Vero Beach Dental Crowns and Bridges

Affordable Tooth Replacement

Missing teeth are more common than you think. According to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, nearly 70 percent of adults between the ages of 35 to 44 have lost at least one tooth. And by the age of 74, more than 25 percent of adults are missing all of their permanent teeth. So if you've lost a tooth or two, there's no need to be embarrassed. Dr. Reiner and his caring and compassionate staff just want to help!

People lose teeth for a number of different reasons, including: gum disease—the number one reason for tooth loss—traumatic injury, severe tooth decay or a failed root canal. And once you’ve lost teeth, numerous oral health problems can develop over time, such as shifting teeth and bite misalignment. Therefore, the need to attend to this problem as quickly as possible cannot be overstated.

Missing Teeth Replacement Methods

One method for tooth replacement offered in our Vero Beach dental office is crown and bridge, a tried and true, as well as affordable way to replace one or more missing teeth.

Let's say you're missing three teeth in a row. Dr. Reiner can have a dental bridge of replacement teeth specifically crafted to blend with your remaining teeth. This prosthetic device is actually comprised of two components: the dental crowns Vero Beach admires that are affixed to stable teeth on either side of the gap in your smile and the false teeth that literally bridge this gap.

The two teeth on either side of the gap are the abutments that hold the bridge in place. These teeth must themselves be healthy and have strong roots. In case they don’t, Dr. Reiner may talk with you about replacing these teeth with dental implants. Then, the custom crafted porcelain crowns that would have been placed over your abutment teeth can be attached to the implants. In either case, these crowns securely support the false teeth, or pontics, that replace your missing teeth.

Missing just one tooth or a different number than three? The process is still the same. Crown and bridge is a non-removable dental prosthetic, so you don't have to worry about slipping or loosening. And because each crown and bridge is created after careful consideration of each patient's individual case, they fit comfortably for optimum form and function.

At-Home Care for Dental Crown and Bridge

To properly care for your new crown and bridge, you’ll need to brush twice every day with a fluoride toothpaste. In addition, Dr. Reiner will give you a bridge floss threader that will allow you to effectively floss around and under the bridge. This is very important in order to prevent plaque and bacteria buildup along the gum tissue underlying your bridge. With proper hygiene, your new crown and bridge can last for 20 years or more.
