What Are
Dental Veneers?

/

A dental veneer is a thin but sturdy shell of porcelain that is placed over the front of a tooth to conceal cosmetic flaws. Before your dentist can cement each veneer in place, a very fine layer of enamel must be removed from the tooth so the shell can lie flush. Veneers are usually made from porcelain or other sturdy ceramics and are customized to blend in seamlessly with your smile.

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Versatile Cosmetic Treatment

Veneers can consolidate several dental procedures into one simple treatment that conceals a wide range of cosmetic flaws at once.

Natural-Looking Results

Porcelain veneers can be made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth for beautiful, lifelike results.

Thin But Durable

Most veneers are made from dental porcelain or other strong materials that can withstand the daily pressures of biting and chewing.

Long-Lasting

With the proper care and maintenance, good dental veneers can enhance your smile for up to 15 years at a time.

What Affects the Cost of Veneers? We Accept Flexible Financing

The cost of veneers can vary depending on several factors, such as the number of veneers you receive and which material they're made of. Our Vero Beach staff can provide an accurate quote for you during your veneer consultation.

While many patients love the results of their enhanced smile with veneers, insurance companies will not cover the cost since veneers are not considered a medical necessity. Luckily, Reiner Family Dental takes financing options to help make this confidence-boosting treatment more accessible. Our patients can break up out-of-pocket costs using CareCredit®, a healthcare-based financing company that can divide your bill into affordable monthly payments.

The Dental Veneers Treatment Timeline

Reiner Family Dental has been enhancing patients' smiles in Vero Beach, FL, since 1996.

Steps to a Better Smile

Reiner Family Dental has been enhancing patients' smiles in Vero Beach, FL, since 1996.

Consultation

Dr. Reiner begins every veneer treatment with a thorough consultation. He will determine whether you're a good candidate for veneers and will recommend the treatment if it's the best way to get the results you want. We'll also conduct a comprehensive exam to make sure there are no oral health issues that must be taken care of first.

Preparation

During this phase, we can use local anesthesia to numb the treatment area so you feel more comfortable. A layer of enamel will be removed from each tooth that's being treated to make room for the porcelain veneers. Dr. Reiner will then create a 3D impression of each prepped tooth for the crafting process.

Crafting

While an expert craftsman creates your custom porcelain veneers, you will wear temporary veneers to protect your teeth. The average turnaround time is typically two to three weeks.

Fitting

Once your custom veneers are ready, you will return to our office in Vero Beach so we can remove the temporary veneers. We will test the fit of your permanent veneers and ensure you're satisfied before cementing them in place.

Enjoy the Results

Dental veneers have virtually no recovery time beyond waiting for the local anesthesia to wear off. You can immediately return to your daily activities and show off your new smile.

Maintain Your Veneers By Avoiding Certain Habits

The best way to maintain your veneers and natural teeth is to practice good daily hygiene by brushing and flossing twice a day. You can also help your porcelain veneers last longer by avoiding habits such as:

Drinking Dark Liquids

While porcelain veneers are stain-resistant, dark liquids like coffee, red wine, and tea can stain your natural teeth over time, leading to a smile that's no longer uniform. We recommend minimizing your intake of these beverages or drinking them through a straw. You should also be aware of foods that can cause stains, like sauces and berries.

Chewing Hard Surfaces

Chewing on your fingernails, ice, pens, and other hard surfaces can damage your natural enamel and your veneers. Using your teeth as tools (like tearing open packages) can also damage your teeth. Our Vero Beach dentists recommend curbing these bad habits to protect your investment.

Eating Certain Foods

Tough meats and sticky caramels can damage your veneers or pull them out of place altogether. While you don't have to cut these foods out of your diet completely, we recommend taking care when eating them. Try to bite into and chew these foods with areas of your mouth that haven't received veneers.

Clenching or Grinding Your Teeth

Clenching or grinding your teeth is often a subconscious act, but it can still damage your teeth and veneers. If you have bruxism and grind your teeth while you sleep, you should wear a night guard to protect your teeth and veneers.
The final way to make your veneers last longer is to schedule regular appointments with Dr. Reiner, who can examine the state of your veneers and provide tips for taking care of them.

A Complete Smile Makeover Combining Veneers With Other Cosmetic Treatments

Improve Your Candidacy for Veneers And Other Cosmetic Treatments

With fillings, periodontal disease treatment, root canal therapy, and more, our Vero Beach dental office is a one-stop shop for your general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry needs.
